Josh: choosing words VERY carefully

Josh: making sure to deliver them well and with boldness

Josh: I have a tendency to look down when I talk to people
Josh: so making sure to deliver them while looking at her the whole time
Josh: and also getting prepared spiritually for getting shot down
Josh: and for really meaning what I say about loving her to the point that if she’s happier with someone other than me, then I’ll be happy
Josh: and then, preparing for what we should do either way
Josh: but ya
Josh: I’m preparing to get shot down
Josh: b/c things haven’t been bad lately, but haven’t been good either
Dorcas: you think it’ll happen

Dorcas: about wanting someone to be happy

Dorcas: so what do you think might happen next week?
Josh: one of two things are more than likely

Josh: but one of two things:
Josh: 1) she likes me, but isn’t ready for a relationship yet
Josh: or 2) there’s no interest on her end
Dorcas: how come no 3rd?
Josh: what’s the 3rd?
Dorcas: ummm
Dorcas: that she is ready for a relationship?
Josh: it is possible
Josh: but
Josh: she’s done a few things that wouldn’t gel with that
Dorcas: oh ok
Josh: the one that hurt the most was when she was supposed to let me know when she was free for a second date, and never did
Josh: and then when I asked her to schedule something again, she said she’d want to do something w/ me and Josiah
Josh: which really, really hurt
Dorcas: ah yes
Josh: so no, I don’t think possibility number 3 is very likely
Dorcas: does she officially not like josiah anymore?
Josh: I don’t know
Josh: my friends and my family don’t think it’s very likely
Josh: and there was a period where we were very certain she was interested in me
Josh: and besides
Josh: Josiah likes someone else right now
Josh: who likes him back as well
Dorcas: awwww

Josh: though they’re not dating yet
Josh: but I can tell

Josh: so that is the soap opera of my life right now

Josh: honestly a part of me finds it kind of fun

Dorcas: i just finished reading Dr. Elaine Eng’s book
Dorcas: about overcoming disability as a christian, mom, doctor, etc
Josh: awesome!
Josh: how was it?
Dorcas: she’s amazing
Dorcas: it’s still hard processing that my parents know her?
Dorcas: you know how writers often seem kinda.. mythical and out there?
Josh: indeed. we had a writer who wrote an awesome theology book we read, and then the writer became our church’s missions pastor
Josh: it was very strange when we first met him
Josh: wait…ur parents know Dr. Eng?
Josh: how?
Dorcas: uhhhh
Dorcas: complicated thing with mutual friends
Dorcas: one sec
Dorcas: we know my pediatrician from the church that my parents met at
Dorcas: elaine went to princeton with his wife and then albert einstein for medical school with him
Dorcas: uhhh
Josh: ah
Josh: and ur pediatrician introduced them to her?
Dorcas: somewhere along the way, when my brother and sister were young, my mom mentioned that she was up for babysitting people’s kids
Dorcas: they lived not so far away
Dorcas: so my mom took care of her kids until she quit because of her diagnosis
